Responsibilities: • Lead and manage a team of 20+ staff (fitters, piping crew, supervisors, engineers) in the GSPP workshop. • Oversee troubleshooting and diagnostics on motors, gearboxes, pumps, rotors, piping systems, and other critical equipment; decide on appropriate repair or fabrication methods. • Ensure all equipment service, repair, and piping job records are properly updated in SAP. • Plan, organize, and prioritize workshop and piping tasks based on plant maintenance notifications, shutdown requirements, and urgent production requests. • Provide hands-on supervision and technical guidance on complex repairs, piping fabrication, welding, and workshop activities. • Manage repair, piping, and maintenance costs; track and optimize workshop budget utilization. • Coordinate spare parts, piping materials, and consumables forecasting, requisition, and stock replenishment in collaboration with the Stores and Purchasing teams. • Monitor progress of all workshop and piping jobs; ensure workmanship, quality standards, and timely completion. • Develop and mentor engineers, supervisors, fitters, and piping crew through structured training, coaching, and on-the-job learning. • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and statutory requirements (DOSH, ISO, welding, confined space, lifting, and environmental regulations). • Collaborate with Plant Maintenance, Operations, and Shutdown Planning to align workshop and piping activities with mill priorities and improve equipment uptime. • Track KPIs such as job turnaround time, backlog closure, piping repair lead time, and cost efficiency to continuously improve workshop and piping performance.
Degree in Mechanical or Piping Engineering preferred. Degree in Electrical Engineering is acceptable, provided the candidate is a fast learner with strong adaptability to mechanical and piping workshop operations. 5–10 yearsf experience in heavy industries (paper, steel, cement, oil & gas) with hands-on workshop management. Strong technical knowledge in motor repairs, pumps, gearboxes, cardan shafts, piping works, and machining. Experience in coordinating shutdown workshop activities. Familiar with SAP or equivalent for work order management and job tracking. Strong troubleshooting, machining, and fabrication knowledge. Pipping knowledge will have advantages Proven leadership in supervising workshop staff (engineers, supervisors, technicians). Good coordination skills with Plant Maintenance and Reliability teams. Ensure compliance with statutory safety standards (DOSH, lifting, welding, confined space). Ability to drive workshop improvements in quality, turnaround time, and cost efficiency.
